Prepackaged Magnesium Anodes(Square Type)

  • Magnesium anodes are a preferred choice for corrosion control, especially when impressed current cathodic protection isn’t suitable. Ideal for soil applications, these anodes, with their higher negative potential, deliver ample driving voltage, effectively safeguarding underground steel structures in medium to high resistivity soils (1,000 – 10,000 Ω·cm).

  • We offer two types of magnesium anodes, each with distinct electrode potentials relative to Cu/CuSO4. Suitable for a broad range of soil resistivities, they ensure protection for various buried metallic structures.

  • The high potential magnesium anodes are optimal for dry or resistant soils or in cases where increased current is needed, like in poorly coated tanks. Conversely, standard potential anodes excel in corrosive soils, particularly around well-coated tanks, and tend to outlast high potential alloys in such conditions.

  • Our magnesium anodes are crafted to meet stringent standards, with high potential anodes conforming to ASTM B843-M1C and standard potential anodes to ASTM B843-AZ63B.

Electro-potential Varieties:

  • Standard Magnesium Alloy Anode:
  • Ideal for soils under 20 Ω·cm resistivity.
  • Nominal corrosion potential of -1.55 volts (vs. Cu/CuSO4 reference).
  • High Potential Magnesium Alloy Anode:
  • Suited for soils over 2,000 Ω·cm or areas with extensive corrosion.
  • Produces -1.7 to -1.75 volts open circuit potential, 20-30% higher than conventional anodes.
  • Enhanced current output and efficiency, ensuring effective cathodic protection with lower anode consumption.
